Join Us as a Software Engineer - Build, Modernise, and Shape the Future of Aviation!

Wellington Central | Full-Time, Permanent | Salary range: $98,689 - $120,941

Why Join Us?

By joining us, you will be part of a team where meaningful work, collaboration and innovation come together to help keep New Zealand's skies safe and secure.

At the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, we are constantly evolving to meet the demands of a changing environment and the aviation industry. Recent legislative changes, along with an organisational realignment, have opened exciting new opportunities across the Authority. These changes are part of a broader effort to better position our teams for the future by enabling us to be more collaborative, efficient, and effective in everything we do.

As we step confidently into our role as a modern regulator, we are embracing intelligence-led, risk-based approaches that help us make a real difference for our people and the communities we serve - with a strong value-for-money ethos. We're also committed to enabling aviation participants to support economic growth in New Zealand's aviation sector.

About the Role

We're looking for Software Engineers to join our growing Digital Delivery and Support team.

In this role, you'll take full ownership of the end-to-end software lifecycle - from design to development, testing, implementation, and maintenance. You'll also help evaluate and configure third-party applications, ensuring solutions align with best practices, policy, and the evolving needs of CAA. With your technical software engineering expertise and collaborative spirit, you'll contribute to a future where aviation is even safer, smarter, and more resilient. Together, we can make a lasting difference.

You'll be a key player in modernizing and maintaining our critical systems, helping us move faster and smarter to meet future demands.

The salary band for this position goes from $98,689 to a maximum of $120,941. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader Authority for the same or similar roles.

What We're Looking For

  • Solid experience as a Software Engineer with a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Strong skills in .NET, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
  • An excellent communicator who can collaborate across diverse technical and non-technical groups.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of complex problems.
