Our Library is looking for an individual to join our team of Library Student Assistants. You will assist in shelving books, providing customer services and maintaining the presentation of the Library and its resources.
We have multiple Student Assistant roles available in Te Iho o Te Manawataki, Library based on our Hamilton campus.
Supporting our Collections, Strategy and Access Team, we are looking for students to assist our collection management activities. These roles will be fixed term positions until the end of Trimester B 2025 and will be supporting collections work in the Te Manawa and potentially the Teaching Resources Library.
The salary for these positions will be in the range of $51,276 to $57,855 per annum, pro rata, depending on the skills, knowledge, and experience you bring to the role.
We are offering these part-time positions through to the end of Trimester B 2025, with the option to extend through to 19 December 2025 for students who plan to stay on. There is also the possibility of increasing hours based on operational needs.
These roles are based at our Hillcrest Campus, with flexible working arrangements available to accommodate your study schedule. We can offer between 5 to 15 hours per week, with working hours expected to fall between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Currently studying at the University of Waikato, you will be reliable, punctual, and be able to maintain your commitment to the role throughout the fixed term period.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in reviewing and organising library materials to ensure the collection stays current and easy to access. Following Library guidelines, you’ll help identify items that need attention and assist with shelving and maintaining an orderly, welcoming environment.
Strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions precisely, and good organisational skills are important. You’ll also need to be physically capable of safely lifting and moving materials. Reliability and the confidence to work independently will help you thrive in this role.
