We are seeking a future-focused, strategic professional to step into the role of Senior Manager Studen6t Orientation and Transition - a role critical to AUT's commitment to equity and student success. This is an impactful, future-focused and rewarding role.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience designing and implementing strategies and initiatives that support students transitioning from secondary school to university life, particularly for first year and international students.

You will be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of AUT's orientation, international student experience, and transition programmes. You'll partner with leaders across the university to ensure a cohesive, holistic, and equity-led approach to student induction and integration.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of student transition strategies grounded in research and best practice.
  • Lead the operational planning and delivery of AUT's orientation and transition events and key experiences for international students.
  • Design and deliver student transition, retention, and engagement strategies with a focus on contributing to our student community.
  • Manage the logistics, coordination, and administration of key student experiences.
  • Ensure smooth collaboration across teams to deliver AUT's distinct student journey.

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience leading or contributing to the design of student transition frameworks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the challenges faced by students in a university setting, with specific expertise in first-year students and international cohorts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience monitoring effectiveness.
  • Highly organised, detail oriented, and skilled at managing complex logistics.
  • Strong project and event management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus and the ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of factors influencing student success and retention within a tertiary environment.
  • Knowledge and practice in the principles of equity and diversity and how these foster community.
