Te Tūranga - The Role:
Our Information Team is working on digitising our essential hardcopy records…and we need your help!
We need someone to help us:
- Prepare hardcopy records for digitisation, ensuring documents are complete, ordered, and free of obstructions (e.g. staples, clips).
- Operate high-volume scanners to digitise physical records efficiently and accurately.
- Save scanned documents to the correct SharePoint locations, following established naming conventions and metadata standards.
- Apply appropriate retention and disposal labels to each digital record in accordance with the Public Records Act and internal policy.
- Liaise with Information Advisors and other team members to clarify record categorisation and ensure consistency.
- Track progress of scanning tasks and contribute to reporting on volumes completed and outstanding.
You’ll be joining the Information Team who specialise in managing and safeguarding the region's official records and data. We ensure that information is accurate, accessible, and compliant with legislation such as the Public Records Act and the Privacy Act. Our work supports transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery across council operations.
Ngā Pūkenga, ngā wheako - Your Skills & Experience:
Ideal applicants for this role should have:
- A minimum of secondary education up to Year 13 (NCEA Level 3).
- Excellent written, verbal and comprehensive skills.
- Computer skills including experience in Microsoft word, excel and database entering.
- Discretion and confidentiality.
- Self-managing, organised and methodical with a keen eye for detail.
- Be studying or plan to commence studying towards Commerce, Business Management, Record and Archives Management, Library and Information Management, or related qualification.
- Hold a current driver's licence.
This position can be located in Whakatāne (preferred) or Tauranga.
