About the role
Our community loves to swim, and we proudly work with preschool- and school-aged children, youth and adults. during weekday mornings, afternoons, and weekend mornings. This is an active and rewarding role where you will contribute to our community through helping our learners develop essential life skills.
- While previous experience, a swim teaching qualification, and a current first aid certificate is highly valued, all successful applicants must complete our fully funded in-house training program as a requirement of the role.
- Enjoy an active role in our modern Aquatic Centre where you will play an important part in providing our community with the skills they need when in and around water.
- Selwyn Aquatic Centre are seeking to employ motivated, energetic instructors to join our fun and passionate Learn to Swim Team.
- As a Swim School Instructor, you will be responsible for; planning structured and engaging lessons, teaching with encouragement and positive reinforcement, assessing participants to ensure they are improving their swimming ability and reaching milestones.
The following shifts are available on a permanent part-time basis. Extra hours may be available to cover leave or additional classes.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday and Friday - 3:15pm-6:15pm
- Saturday and Sunday - 8.15am-1:00pm (includes a 30 - minute unpaid break)
About you
To be successful in this role you will be committed to completing all training required, be comfortable working with all ages, committed to working positively within a team and value the importance of swim safety.
You will also have:
- Amazing communication skills and can relate to all ages
- Excellent problem-solving
- Be available for a weekday and a weekend day.
- Fantastic Customer Service skills and the ability to make learners feel at ease
- Love being in the water.
