About The Role
As a Trainee Horticulturist, day-to-day you will help the team carry out routine maintenance of plants and gardens in parks, reserves and open spaces. As you study, you will learn and develop the skills below:
- Comprehend factors affecting plant cycles and basic soil science
- Identify, report, and control plant pests and diseases
- Recognise different types of amenity plants
- Evaluate, prune, and train trees and shrubs for optimal growth
- Prepare and oversee plans for amenity sites
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in the field is not required. If you are a hard worker, with a passion for working outdoors and getting stuck in then you would be a perfect candidate. Other success factors include:
- Ability to learn and commit to training is the most essential
- A current full drivers' licence with the ability to drive a manual
- Be a team player and be able to follow instructions
- A desire to adhere to the company's health and safety procedures
- Motivated with a strong desire to get the job done
- Physically fit and able to stand and kneel for long periods of time
