Workshop Technician and Sales - STIHL Shop Botany

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of New Zealand’s most premium brands, STIHL Shop Botany. We are looking for a Workshop Technician and Sales to join our team. We’re on the hunt for a hands-on Workshop Technician with a flair for sales – someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems, providing outstanding customer service, and thrives in a busy, team-focused environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Service and repair a range of outdoor power equipment – chainsaws, ride-on mowers, water blasters, and more
  • Take full ownership of workshop jobs and their timely completion
  • Provide expert advice and personalised service to retail customers
  • Use our easy-to-navigate systems to find parts, manage orders, and maintain stock accuracy
  • Help manage incoming goods, pricing, stock levels, and workshop parts
  • Handle in-store, phone, and email customer queries
  • Assemble and display new equipment for sale
  • Prepare clear written proposals and quotes for customers
  • Keep the showroom and workshop clean and well-organised
  • Support store operations, including opening/closing and equipment movement
  • Contribute to the smooth running of all areas of the shop

What you will bring to the role:

  • Strong mechanical diagnostic and repair skills
  • Experience with engines – automotive, marine, motorcycle, or similar
  • Knowledge of STIHL products is a bonus, but not essential
  • Sales acumen and experience in retail sales, parts coordination, or tools/hardware
  • Excellent customer service skills – friendly, helpful, and professional under pressure
  • Well-organised with sharp attention to detail
  • Confident using IT systems and digital tools
  • Self-motivated, quick to learn, and a reliable team player
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude and willingness to muck in
  • Leadership potential and a desire to grow within the team
