Te āheinga: The opportunity
As an Accounts Administrator, you will play a key role in supporting Unitec's financial operations. You'll be responsible for:
- Preparing month-end and year-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Administering and auditing P Card and staff expense claims
- Managing GST returns and supporting internal/external audits
- Assisting with purchasing, vendor setup, and contract for service processes
- Supporting system upgrades, process improvements, and compliance reporting
This is a dynamic role that requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

You're someone who thrives in a structured, detail-focused environment and enjoys working behind the scenes to keep financial operations running smoothly. You bring:
- A tertiary qualification in accounting and at least one year of relevant experience
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills, especially with balance sheets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong working relationships
- A commitment to te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and inclusive practices
We also value experience with PeopleSoft, familiarity with the tertiary education sector, or working with government agencies—though these are not essential. If you're eager to learn and grow, we'll support you every step of the way.
