Kia hiwa rā!

At Te Whare Wānanga o Wairaka - Unitec, we believe in the transformative power of education to positively impact our ākonga, their whānau, and the wider community. We are guided by the principles of Te Noho Kotahitanga, our partnership with Māori, and ensure our ākonga are well-prepared for future employment needs through a blend of hands-on and classroom-based learning.

Te āheinga: The opportunity

As an Accounts Administrator, you will play a key role in supporting Unitec's financial operations. You'll be responsible for:

  • Preparing month-end and year-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Administering and auditing P Card and staff expense claims
  • Managing GST returns and supporting internal/external audits
  • Assisting with purchasing, vendor setup, and contract for service processes
  • Supporting system upgrades, process improvements, and compliance reporting

This is a dynamic role that requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

He kōrero mōu: About you:

You're someone who thrives in a structured, detail-focused environment and enjoys working behind the scenes to keep financial operations running smoothly. You bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in accounting and at least one year of relevant experience
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills, especially with balance sheets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong working relationships
  • A commitment to te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and inclusive practices

We also value experience with PeopleSoft, familiarity with the tertiary education sector, or working with government agencies—though these are not essential. If you're eager to learn and grow, we'll support you every step of the way.

Tā mātau rourou: What we offer

Joining Unitec means becoming part of a vibrant and supportive work culture. You'll be part of a close-knit team and collaborate with various departments across Unitec, providing ample opportunities to connect with colleagues and contribute to the future of education. We offer a dynamic environment where your contributions are valued, and you have the chance to make a real impact on the next generation.

Tono mai: How to Apply

Please note: We are looking for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible. We do not always work to fixed closing dates and may start considering applications as they are received, so we encourage you to apply.

Please apply online and attach your current CV and covering letter highlighting your skills and experience that make you a strong fit for this role.
