About the Role

Salary: $111,240 - $122,570 (pro rata)

Are you a dedicated Allied Health Practitioner with a passion for supporting people to live well after an illness or injury? Come aboard our dynamic inpatient rehabilitation service, where we embrace person-centred care and work as a tight-knit, multidisciplinary team alongside our nursing and medical kaimahi.

For this advanced allied health professional role, you will be part of a growing specialist rehabilitation team, working across the rehabilitation continuum. This role is primarily based in Wellington Regional Hospital, and is integrated with the acute teams with 75% of the patients you will see presenting post stroke. You will also work closely with the inpatient rehabilitation wards, based at Kenepuru, and community rehabilitation and support services.

A key aspect of our evolving model of care and the key function of this role is the early specialised holistic rehabilitation assessment of patients in the acute setting to determine their needs. You will provide skilled assessment & treatment planning, coordination of rehabilitation care and education to patient and family/whanau.

This role will also have responsibility for providing clinical leadership within the wider rehabilitation team to assist in developing the clinical capability of others.

About the Team/Service/Location

Wellington Regional Hospital is a tertiary centre providing acute care for patients across the Wellington and Central regions. Our specialist inpatient rehabilitation unit, has 18 beds, and is based at Kenepuru Hospital. We also have an early supported discharge service, and community-based rehabilitation teams.

This role sits within the wider Allied Health team and you will work alongside two established designated Rehabilitation roles: an advanced Occupational Therapist and Allied Health Consultant. You will also work closely with the newly recruited Rehabilitation CNS – inpatient and Rehabilitation Allied Health Educator.

In addition to this, on a day to day basis you’ll be based at Wellington Hospital working closely with the inpatient teams across wards, predominantly on the neuro ward, as well as the stroke Early Supported Discharge team.

We work together to provide a service of high standard to patients and their families and whānau. We are a very supportive team; we provide training and learning opportunities, supervision, and mentorship.

  • An eagerness to reduce inequities and improve clinical care and health outcomes
  • Current full drivers licence
