The Housing and Urban Growth (HUG) team
Our work provides exposure to complex social and fiscal policy issues with the opportunity to develop a broad understanding how government expenditure delivers value for New Zealanders. Our team helps shape and influence policy spanning Vote Housing, social housing, housing infrastructure and investment, and advice on Kāinga Ora.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
We have an exciting Analyst position in our HUG team working on some of the biggest housing policy challenges facing Aotearoa - New Zealand.
This role would suit an analyst who has financial capability, is highly motivated, keen to build on their relationship management skills and work in a central agency directly working to improve the outcomes of all New Zealanders. In it, you will be responsible for:
- developing insights into the effectiveness of Government spending
- leading internal and external stakeholder engagements and building positive working relationships between the Treasury, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and other stakeholders
- providing timely, robust advice to Ministers, in particular the Minister of Housing and Minister of Finance on a range of fiscal and economic matters
- using your financial capabilities as a Vote analyst to lead the team in all things Vote, including championing the team's work through the annual budget process, and
- support a focused team that is making a difference.

- a strong attention to detail
- critical thinking and ability to develop pragmatic solutions
- an ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and
- a generous, team-player attitude.
