The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders' lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.

About the role
This is a newly created role to join a high performing and agile team committed to excellence and making a real difference. The distribution sector is undergoing a transformation as it embarks on helping New Zealand electrify and support more distributed generation. The network policy team is helping the sector achieve this transition for the benefit of all consumers.
We have an exciting opportunity for an analyst, researcher or policy thinker, who understands the basics of regulatory economics and policy design, and who can write - especially Board papers and consultation documents.
Our ideal candidate
- A relevant qualification preferably with an economics or engineering background
- An enthusiastic regulatory or policy professional, who thrives in a fast-paced environment, working in partnership with stakeholders, with strong thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Familiarity with the distribution sector, metering or general electricity industry is preferred but not essential
