Te Haeata/The Opportunity
We're seeking an Ara Taki (Chambers Manager) to join the Chief Māori Land Court Judge's Chambers based in Wellington.
The position directly supports the Chief Māori Land Court Judge and Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal and the wider Māori Land Court Bench. This position has a working relationship with the Director of the Māori Land Court and Waitangi Tribunal and is therefore accountable for ensuring that the specific issues relating to both jurisdictions are effectively managed within the scope of the responsibilities of the position.
As a member of the team, the Ara Taki will have responsibilities that include:
- the leadership, management and administration of the operational budget for Chambers.
- providing the Chief Judge with the necessary administrative/judicial support to allow the Chief Judge to fulfil the functions of his or her office.
- the national rostering of the Māori Land Court Judges to ensure judicial resources are deployed efficiently and effectively.
- The leadership and management of the Judges' Personal Assistants who are based around the motu.
- Nurturing and maintaining key relationships
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
As a member of the Māori Land Court and Waitangi Tribunal, you will be expected to use te reo Māori and practice tikanga Māori in your daily work so you will need to be comfortable, competent and confident to do that.
If you can operate under pressure in a fast-paced environment, you are self-directed, and highly motivated then this is the role for you. Our ideal candidate will have:

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work tasks.
- Proven experience in delivering effective administrative support services.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The remuneration band for this role is $98,208 to $135,539 the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
