We’re Hiring: Assistant Café Manager
Are you passionate about hospitality, skilled in customer service, and ready to step into a leadership role in a thriving café environment? We are seeking a motivated Assistant Café Manager to join our team!
Pay Range: $26-$30 per hour, depending on experience
Applicants must be based in New Zealand and available for in-person interviews and trial shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in day-to-day operations of the café, ensuring smooth and efficient service
- Support and communicate closely with the FOH leader and BOH leader, and confidently take charge of shifts on their days off, during holidays, or whenever required for the smooth running of the business and opening to closing responsibilities
- Lead and support front-of-house (FOH) staff, ensuring high standards of customer service
- Prepare and manage staff rosters
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and conflict resolution with professionalism
- Support inventory control, stock ordering, and supplier coordination
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Ensure cleanliness, presentation, and ambiance of the café are always to standard
- Organise marketing activities and promotions in collaboration with management
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff
- Manage budgets and contribute to financial reporting

Requirements:
- Must have minimum 2–3 working experience in busy NZ cafe, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or assistant manager role.
- Strong barista skills are a major plus
- Must hold a valid Alcohol Manager's Certificate.
- Excellent leadership, staff management, and customer engagement skills
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Confident in managing staff schedules and overseeing daily operations
- Experience with stock management, POS systems, and general café administration
