Mo te tunga | About the role
The Assistant Systems Accountant is responsible for maintaining the structural integrity and accuracy of the Department's SAP financial system and operational environment to ensure these are effective and appropriate to meet the needs of the organisation. In addition, this position will provide general accounting support to the wider Finance Team.
Some of the key accountabilities include:
- Maintain the general ledger cost centre structures and chart of accounts, including the allocation to output cost structures
- Participate in updating the SAP Finance system for the business planning and budgeting process
- Provide Finance support and advice on system upgrades, enhancements and modifications to improve functionality
- Consult with wider Finance team and users to determine the updates to SAP finance system and cost centre structures

We are looking for someone with knowledge and demonstrable competence in financial accounting practices and procedures as well as:
- Knowledge of SAP Finance and Master Data including Controlling, Financial Reporting, Banking, Procurement and Project modules.
- Drive, enthusiasm and forward-thinking ability, with a desire to improve process and add value to the wider business
- Demonstration of sound reconciliation skills. Good numerical and investigative skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members and foster a commitment to customer service standards and business improvement principles.
- Previous experience in government financial accounting would be advantageous.
- Good analytical skills and an ability to analyse problems and formulate well-reasoned solutions.
- First class communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
Utu a-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $79,495 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $67,571 - $95,394 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
