This is an exciting time to join our dynamic and collaborative Automation team at our Collingwood Street site supporting the control systems for the LNI region.
As a member of our high performing team of Automation Engineers, you will sit within an ever-changing industry where we need to ensure our systems are effectively maintained and running smoothly. This role will give you plenty of variety, where you will work across BAU maintenance as well as projects and strategic technology initiatives. Day to day, you will be based at our Collingwood St site, supporting improvement and execution to ensure high availability and reliability. You will also spend time at our Kapuni and Whareroa sites and may occasionally be required to support other Fonterra sites as needed. You will be involved in PLC and HMI coding and programming, as well as fault finding and attending breakdowns.

Mōu | About you
As a natural relationship builder, you will collaborate with various teams to understand their needs and challenges, implementing initiatives to ensure our control systems operate at peak performance. You will be a strong automation engineer with high proficiency in process automation and machine coding, with familiarity in manufacturing execution systems (MES). Your strong problem-solving skills will enable you to troubleshoot quickly and work with our partners to get remediation initiatives underway promptly.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- A Tertiary or Trade Qualifications in automation engineering, software engineering or mechatronics
- Proven hands-on experience working in PLC control systems and programming will be an advantage
- Tech savvy and excellent communication skills
- An ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment while staying calm and maintaining high attention to detail
- Previous experience with Rockwell systems for PLCs would be beneficial but is not essential.
