Position Available: Bakery Manager – Taupō, Waikato (Managing two shops)
Are you a driven and organised individual with a passion for the bakery and café industry, and a strong interest in managing staff from two premises and able to do some baking jobs?
We are seeking an experienced Bakery Manager to oversee operations and help with baking at our two bakery cafés in Taupō. This is a permanent, full-time position offering minimum 30 hours to maximum 50 hours per week. Our cafés operate 7 days a week from 3 AM to 3 PM, so flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and during busy trading periods is essential.
Pay Rate: $30–$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsiblities:
- Opening and closing store, including end of day account management
- Training employees, supervising employees, organising rosters
- Expansion and improvement of business, including but not limited to promotion of the business.
- Assessing sales and customer satisfaction, also finding ways to improve these metrics.
- Managing stock and restocking, undertake inventory and orders, monitor sales.
- Maintain store cleanliness and image.
- Reporting to owner.
- Following food safety plans and measures, maintaining food safety plans and measures, updating food safety plans and measures.
- Any other reasonable duties as necessary for a manager or as requested by the owner.
- Preparing, baking, cooking, frying, and producing pies, pastries, breads, rolls, desserts, and any other products on the bakery menu.
- Preparing and serving drinks including but not limited to coffee, smoothies, shakes.
- Packing/wrapping and processing products
- Using scales, graded containers, measures, and other machinery to weigh flour or any other materials used to create products.
- Decorating other products.
- Adjusting the timing and speed settings including but not limited to cooking, mixing, or blending equipment so that the components are mixed or cooked according to the recipe.
- Preparing custom-made products based on the preferences of consumers.
- Preparing garnishes for baked items.
- Recommending recipes to refresh our menu and bring in new customers.
- Keep track of food supply and place orders as required.
- Utilising adequate quantities and rotating products to keep spoilage/waste to a minimum.
- Cleaning, dismantling, and storing all baking equipment, including but not limited to: ovens, mixers, proofer, floors, freezer, and refrigerators.

- Must be currently eligible to work in New Zealand
- Must have experience as a baker or be suitably qualified with relevant credentials
- Must be able to pass drugs tests with clean criminal record
