Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role
We have a great opportunity for 2x Bathing Water Technicians to work with our laboratory and sampling services team, helping collect samples for our bathing water monitoring programme as part of our regional water monitoring programme.
We have two full time, fixed-term roles available for a period of 6 months (October 2025 – March 2026), based in Whakatane.
As a Bathing Water Technician, you will:
- Collect samples at coastal and inland recreational bathing water sites across the Bay of Plenty.
- Provide prompt reporting of results to public health, local authorities, LAWA and our own website.
- Client service delivery.
- Ensure the delivery of collection and reporting service through some of the Christmas holidays.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience
We are looking for motivated individuals who are looking to gain experience. We are seeking the following from our candidates:
- NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, ideally studying towards a Level 6 Diploma in a science related discipline (preferred).
- A reasonable level of physical fitness.
- Current driver's licence and sound driving skills (full licence preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and great team ethic.
- Experience with electronic document management systems would be ideal, but not essential.
