We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Cafe Lead to join our BNZ team at 80 Queen Street.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering a welcoming and nourishing workplace environment. Your attention to detail and passion for great service will directly influence the everyday experience of colleagues and guests. You will be instrumental in leading the daily café service and you will help set the tone for quality, hospitality, and professionalism.

What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?
Leading and supporting front of house team to deliver exceptional customer service.
Managing daily opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reconciliation
Coordinating table service, take away orders, and customer flow during peak periods.
Monitoring cleanliness, presentation, and overall atmosphere of the internal cafe.
Assisting with stock rotation, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory levels.
Communicating closely with the Hospitality manager and head chef to ensure smooth and efficient servicing of the day to day café operations
Resolving customer concerns professionally and promptly, and ensuring a fantastic positive experience for all of our colleagues at the BNZ cafe
Maintain strict compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations
What projects / mahi (work) will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
In your first six months you will be instrumental in setting up and shaping the front of house operations for the BNZ cafe. You will help establish service procedures, recruitment and train the team, and work closely with our hospitality manager and head chef to create a welcoming, efficient, and customer focused environment. As the cafe launches, you will focus on building at team culture, refining workflows, and delivering a consistently high standard of service here at BNZ.

What specific skills would be beneficial?
- Minimum 2 years experience as a café lead FOH, restaurant, or catering environment.
- Experience leading a team to deliver service excellence.
- Proven ability to prepare diverse, high-quality dishes at volume.
- Strong understanding of New Zealand food safety legislation and commercial kitchen operations.
