About the role

We’re looking for a Quality Projects Lead to join our team at Synlait on a fixed term contract for 12 months. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert on food safety and quality within major projects, supporting innovation and continuous improvement across the business. You’ll work cross-functionally, advise on risk, and lead quality actions from planning to implementation. This role can be based in either our Mangere or Pokeno site however travel will be required across both.

Key responsibilities of this role include..

  • Lead and support food safety and quality aspects of key projects across the business.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on RMP, HACCP and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with project teams to proactively identify risks and deliver improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver accurate and timely documentation, including change controls and regulatory submissions.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Coach and support teams in food safety and quality practices within the project context.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and compliance frameworks.
  • Be a visible quality leader, advocating for practical, effective solutions that support long-term goals.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a dairy or food/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Science or Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems, HACCP, RMP and regulatory frameworks.
  • A confident communicator with the ability to lead, influence and collaborate across teams
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma)
