Checkout Manager, New World Mount Albert

We’re proud to be back and serving the vibrant Mount Albert community! With our newly fitted store now up and running, we’re focused on delivering an exceptional shopping experience every day across our grocery, butchery, deli, bakery, produce and liquor departments.

We’re now seeking a Checkout Manager to lead our checkout team and drive a top-tier customer service experience for our shoppers.

The Role

As our Checkout Manager, you'll be a key part of the frontline leadership team, the first and last point of contact for many of our customers. You’ll lead by example and help create a positive, efficient, and welcoming customer experience that sets us apart.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and delivering customer service experiences worth driving past the competition for
  
• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the checkout team
  
• Ensuring every customer interaction is friendly, efficient, and professional
  
• Managing rosters, performance reviews, training, and staff development
  
• Setting and maintaining high standards of presentation, service, and compliance
  
• Collaborating with other departments and store leadership to achieve great outcomes
  
• Ensuring responsible sale of alcohol in accordance with licensing requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a checkout leadership or 2IC role is an advantage
  
• Strong people leadership skills and a focus on coaching and development
  
• A reliable, honest and proactive approach
  
• A track record of delivering great customer service
  
• Confidence using technology and learning new systems
  
• Previous duty manager or sole charge experience is a plus
  
• LCQ/Manager’s Certificate and experience with alcohol sales are advantageous
