Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert care, education, and support related to sexual health & STIs
  • Provide clinical leadership & support to our sexual health registered nurses
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals on sexual health topics
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans, participate in case reviews, and ensure coordinated care
  • Identify and facilitate appropriate referrals for patients with complex needs, including medical, social, and psychological support
  • Provide non-judgemental compassionate care to people from a range of backgrounds, sexualities and gender identities

About the Team/Service

The Sexual Health Service is based at 3 Ohaupo Road in Hamilton and provides free confidential sexual healthcare. Our core service is the diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections including appropriate partner notification. The service also provides emergency contraception, vaccination for Hepatitis B and Gardasil, and HIV prevention medication (PEP and PrEP. The service also provides care for a range of related conditions e.g. genital skin conditions, chronic genital pain and gender-affirming care including hormone therapy.

About you

  • An expert registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, ideally with an interest in working in the community and with patients with sexual health problems. including men’s Sexual Health
  • Proven history of advanced assessment skills
  • A current practicing certificate
  • Post-graduate qualification or working towards
  • A strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Adaptability, flexibility and agility working in a complex environment.
