About the role
As Clinical Services Team Leader at Wellington Free Ambulance (WFA), you will play a vital role in ensuring we continue to deliver world-class, patient-centred care. This role turns clinical governance into practice, bridging the gap between Clinical Services and frontline delivery.
A key focus will be developing and leading our clinical coaches programme, designed to champion clinical excellence and embed best practice across the service. You will lead and support a team of clinical coaches, fostering a culture of continuous learning, reflective practice, and operational alignment.
This position also provides a critical feedback mechanism between patient-facing staff and Clinical Services, working closely with operational teams, Clinical Governance, and medical directors to ensure clinical excellence remains at the heart of everything we do.
Skills and Experiences:
What you will bring:
An ATP at specialist level (Critical Care Paramedic or Extended Care Paramedic) held for at least two years
Demonstrated competence and experience in frontline ambulance or prehospital emergency care
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to contribute positively to team culture
The ability to champion and model clinical excellence in a way that motivates and inspires others
Excellent communication skills and an approachable style
Ideally, you will also have:
Previous leadership experience in operational, educational, or clinical roles
Experience supporting change within clinical or operational teams
An understanding of clinical governance frameworks, healthcare regulations, and safety standards, with the ability to ensure compliance at all levels
Familiarity with Wellington Free Ambulance practices and operations
A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong organizational and time management skills
