Description Shape the future of retail at Auckland Airport We have an exciting opportunity for a commercially savvy, operationally strong, and customer-focused Commercial Manager - Retail to join our Property and Commercial team. This role is pivotal in managing Auckland Airport’s dynamic retail environment, ensuring our retailers deliver exceptional experiences while driving commercial outcomes. What you will be doing This role offers exposure to all the disciplines of retail management – including customer insights, day to day operations, leasing, commercial development and legal. It also requires collaboration across the wider airport ecosystem, with access to a divers and exciting business landscape. As Commercial Manager – Retail, you will be a key liaison between Auckland Airport and the retailers operating in the Internation and Domestic terminals, managing day-to-day operations, ensuring licence compliance, and supporting strategic initiatives across the retail portfolio. This role is a key part of the ‘in life’ retail operations team, driving operational excellence and professional management of the retail portfolio to uphold Auckland Airport’s reputation as a high performing, commercially savvy and trusted landlord. Your key responsibilities are: Day-to-day management of the retail tenants, ensuring licence obligations are met and operational matters are addressed, in line with Auckland Airport’s evolving retail strategy. Deliver insightful performance reporting and financial analysis and reporting to inform decision making and strategy. Ensure retailers are delivering an appropriate level of service and providing high quality customer experience across all operational hours · Curate and manage retailer communications, ensuring timely and relevant updates. Partner with the relevant Retail team members on projects, leasing activity, , events, terminal activities, and operational issues as required. Working with the relevant manager and/or tenant, co-ordinate resolution of customer feedback issues, and provide summary insights to the retail leadership team. What you’ll bring to the role We are seeking someone with strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for retail excellence. You will thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment and be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery for a diverse mix of retail operations, including food & beverage, specialty, premium/luxury retail. To ensure your success in this role, you will need: Relevant tertiary qualification i.e., business, commerce, management or tourism 4+ years’ experience in retail account or commercial management, or similar Proven ability in managing retail performance and ensuring contract compliance. With the ability to interpret commercial terms into financial implications. Strong analytical skills, with ability to interpret results and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Experience in stakeholder engagement. Detail focus and a diligent approach with a drive for continuous improvement Flexibility to work outside standard hours to support a 24/7 trading environment. An ability to drive and follow the resolution of issues in a complex situation and challenging environment.
