Job Description
The Community and Stakeholder Manager will lead the Customer & Community team to develop and deliver best practice partner, stakeholder and community-focused communications and engagement that build trust, maximise opportunities, mitigate risk and enhance AT and the Alliance’s reputation.
Project
The Eastern Busway is a significant project that is about more than just better transport. It will increase access to jobs and education, connect people to social and community opportunities, attract investment and growth, enable urban development, and help reduce emissions.
Its efficient services will give nearby communities some great options for cycling, walking or using the bus, and it will be a vital part of the public transport network in Tāmaki Makaurau for decades to come.
Key tasks and duties to be performed:
- Lead and manage the Customer and Community Team, representing the function on the Alliance Leadership Team and ensuring delivery of all related scope and requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies, management plans, and 90-day plans to meet customer and community objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including mana whenua, elected representatives, and the Howick Local Board.
- Represent partner and community perspectives within the Alliance, ensuring their needs are considered in decision-making.
- Oversee communication materials and channels to support effective two-way engagement and manage media enquiries in collaboration with AT’s media team.
- Monitor and address risks and opportunities related to community engagement, and lead continuous improvement through stakeholder feedback.
- Manage internal communications and team operations, including meetings, reporting, and updates to the Alliance Leadership and Project Alliance Board.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Previous experience in Customer, Stakeholder Management and Communications.
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Media or PR or related field or qualified by experience.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate with a variety of people.
- Strong interpersonal skills – work with and get the best out of a wide mix of people, both within the project team and with external stakeholders and the community.
- Te Ao Māori cultural competence and experience working with mana whenua partners
- Strong organisational skills - able to manage time well and prioritise work.
- Strong commercial acumen including subcontractor management and budget control.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practice.
