- We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to participate in the on-going development of the recovery programme at Tamaki Oranga Recovery Centre. Tamaki Oranga is a 20 bed, free-standing residential facility located in the South Auckland area. It serves men having complex and persistent psychiatric disability from across the motu, who are in need of a longer-term, supportive recovery programme in order to prepare for life in the community. Over half our service users are of Maaori or Pacific ethnicity, and it is a priority to make our service approach responsive to their cultural needs.
- Tamaki Oranga Recovery Centre is a part of Counties Manukau District Mental Health Services. Our area comprises a population of about 600,000, and is very culturally diverse. It is one of the more urban areas of New Zealand - with easy access to all the entertainment, arts, and culture of downtown Auckland - but it also includes beautiful rural areas and regional parks. Our regional hospital, Middlemore Hospital, has the distinction of being one of the busiest acute care facilities in Australasia, and following a transformative re-build incorporating latest technology and co-designed with our whaiora and wider community, Tiaho Mai is the newest inpatient mental health unit in the country.

About the Role
You would also be a part of our psychiatric community of 70 physicians, and will have allocated time and opportunity to participate in weekly Grand Rounds, peer review, continuing medical education, and quality improvement, in support of your on-going professional
