Job Description
Te āhua o te tūranga | The nature of the role
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll be at the heart of our geothermal drilling and intervention operations. You’ll coordinate contractors, manage logistics, and ensure critical materials and tools are where they need to be - all while keeping a close eye on safety, quality, and cost. From overseeing stock levels to troubleshooting technical issues, your mahi will directly support the success of our drilling projects and the long-term health of our geothermal wells.
You’ll also play a key role in continuous improvement, helping us refine our methods and build capability across the team. Whether you’re reviewing intervention programs, writing end-of-well reports, or acting as a nominated supervisor on site, your contribution will be valued and visible. This is a role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys variety, and takes pride in delivering work that matters - for Contact, for our communities, and for the future of energy in Aotearoa.
Qualifications
This is an important role that will require a broad set of skills and experience. We are looking for a person that enjoys being in the centre of geothermal drilling or intervention operations. You will be focused on ensuring the team has the tools they need and collaborating across job streams.
We are looking for a talent who can be descriped as:
- Proven skills in making effective and transparent business decisions without significant oversight or guidance.
- Eagerness to expand own skills and knowledge base.
- Skilled at effectively and positively communicating complex or technical ideas and issues to others
- A high degree of motivation, integrity and professional standards.
This position requires 5-10 years in the Drilling industry, with specific experience and knowledge in the following:
- Familiarity with drilling and or coil tools, casing and valve manufacturing and specifications
- Knowledge of drilling practices, equipment and international tool manufacturers
- Proficiency working with Rimbase software and other similar industry software to record drilling parameters would be preferred.
- Experience working on or around large drilling rigs and well sites.
- Knowledge of machine shop techniques for equipment repairs, Incoterms, customs regulations and
- Understanding of API standards for drilling, coil tubing operations, tools, casing and valves.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of drilling and or intervention operations and preparation of projects.
