About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Duct Fabricator / Metal Fabricator to join our growing team in Auckland. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in sheet metal duct fabrication and installation, with a strong understanding of New Zealand standards. This role requires someone who can work accurately, efficiently, and safely both in the workshop and on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate sheet metal ductwork, fittings, and accessories as per New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS).
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Operate fabrication machinery (shears, presses, rollers, folders, Spot welding) and hand tools.
- Ensure ducts and fittings are produced with correct measurements, tolerances, and quality.
- Carry out duct installation, including supports, hangers, insulation, and sealing, on residential and commercial projects.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and follow site supervisors’ instructions.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements and company procedures at all times.
- Maintain workshop tools, machines, and equipment in good condition.
- Keep accurate records of work progress, materials used, and time allocations.
Skills and Requirements
- Proven experience in duct fabrication and installation (minimum 2–3 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal duct work fabrication practices and New Zealand building/HVAC standards.
- Ability to read and understand workshop drawings and site plans.
- Proficient with sheet metal machinery and fabrication tools.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual work, including lifting and installation tasks.
- Commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
- Valid driver’s license preferred but not essential.
