ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Electrician/Electrical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of HV and LV substation equipment. You’ll work on essential infrastructure projects, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to grow your technical expertise in a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and upgrade substation equipment as per specifications
- Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on primary and auxiliary plant
- Conduct testing and fault diagnosis on transformers, switchgear, and circuits
- Operate and isolate power systems to ensure safe working conditions
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including test results and equipment history
- Participate in site risk assessments and ensure safe work practices
- Support customer relationships through professional service delivery
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive team culture
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Participate in training and development activities
- Contribute to project work and may be part of an after-hours standby roster
ABOUT YOU
- NZ-registered electrician
- HV experience preferred but not essential
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Physically fit and comfortable working at heights
- Full driver’s licence
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Strong safety awareness and familiarity with electrical equipment and tools
