Emergency Medicine or Rural Hospital Specialist - South Canterbury - Timaru Hospital

About the Role

The department consists of 14 spaces (beds and fastracked spaces), 22,000 presentations covering a wide range of emergences, including trauma, with backup from inpatient teams including anaesthesia, paediatrics, mental health, O&G, surgical and internal medicine specialists. The role is varied with staff enabled to triage and diagnose a variety of conditions. The ED team is a tight-knit group, consisting of Medical Officers and a core of experienced and multi-skilled ED nurses.

The roster consists of 3 overlapping 9-hour shifts, (plus House Officer and Registrar assistance). Considerable efforts are made to accommodate individual preferences while rostering.

About you

This role will suit someone who has NZ Vocational Registration in a generalist scope of practice such as Emergency, Rural Medicine ,Urgent Care or General Practice with a current practising certificate.

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.

Salary Range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the ASMS Collective, and the salary will be in accordance with the Pay Scale, and dependent on relevant experience.
