Enterprise Solution Architect
Job Description
Do Yourself a Power of Good
At Vector, we’re undertaking a major transformation—investing $4.6 billion over the next decade to modernise our electricity distribution network and integrate cutting-edge digital technologies. As part of our Symphony Strategy, this investment will enhance customer service and build a more robust, reliable network for the future.
To support this bold vision, our digital architecture must be as innovative and future-focused as our physical infrastructure.
The Role
We’re looking for a pragmatic, strategic, and curious Enterprise Solution Architect—someone who is as comfortable shaping high-level architecture and roadmaps as they are engaging in solution design and delivery. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Vector’s digital future, supporting our mission to deliver clean, reliable energy for Auckland and beyond.
This isn’t a purist ivory tower architecture role. You’ll need to be equally strong in strategic thinking and real-world application—willing to roll up your sleeves, collaborate across the business, and help bring ideas to life. You’ll be part of a high-performing architecture team that thrives on open dialogue, two-way conversations, and shared problem-solving.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design of enterprise-grade solutions and technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with Vector’s principles and business goals.
- Engage deeply with GMs, Value Stream Leads, and senior stakeholders across our business units—Electricity, Gas, Fibre, OnGas and Corporate—to understand strategy, uncover opportunities, and co-create solutions.
- Author and guide architectural design across domains including data, integration, networks, and security—ensuring quality, scalability and resilience.
- Adapt fluidly based on the needs of the organisation—shifting from strategic planning to hands-on solutioning as required throughout the year
- Bring a learning mindset to everything you do—listening first, validating perspectives, and sharing your own expertise in ways that elevate the team.
What You Will Bring
- 5–10 years’ experience leading solution architecture or large-scale change programmes in complex, multi-business unit environments.
- Proven ability to assess and deliver a broad range of technology solutions, with experience shaping solution-focused roadmaps alongside technical and business product managers.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with General Managers and C-level leaders.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based architectures (e.g. AWS, Azure), and ideally SAP solutions, including S/4 HANA.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; formal architecture certifications (e.g. TOGAF, ArchiMate, AWS) are a plus.
- A collaborative, curious, and self-motivated approach—skilled at listening, validating, and influencing through clear communication.
Why Vector? Whether it’s:
- The chance to work on globally relevant challenges,
- Partnering with world-leading tech companies to modernise infrastructure,
- Creating a lasting impact for Aotearoa, or
- Developing your own personal and professional growth—

You’ll also enjoy:

- A diverse and supportive team with a strong sense of purpose

- Health and wellbeing support for you and your whānau
- A benefits package designed to support work–life balance
