Exhibitions & Curatorial Coordinator

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is the home of art for Auckland, its people and visitors, and a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Gallery's purpose is to be a creative catalyst for art and ideas, offering transformational experiences that strengthen and enrich our communities.


Audiences are at the heart of Gallery activities, which extend from our redeveloped and expanded site in the arts and learning precinct of inner-city Auckland.


We are looking for someone who can help bring inspiring art experiences to life. We are seeking an organised and collaborative Exhibitions & Curatorial Coordinator to plan, deliver and support an exciting programme of exhibitions and artist commissions.

This is a one-year fixed-term parental leave cover position of 40 hours per week.

You’re a natural organiser who thrives in a collaborative, creative environment. You enjoy working with diverse people, from artists and curators to technicians and contractors, and you communicate clearly to keep everyone on track.

You stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and balance creative vision with practical delivery. You value biculturalism, respect Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and embrace diverse perspectives in your work.

Above all, you’re passionate about art and ideas, and motivated by the chance to create exhibitions that inspire and connect communities.


In addition, we are looking for:


  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent in art history, fine arts, design, museum studies or another relevant discipline
  • Project management experience in the art gallery or relevant creative industries
  • Excellent budget management experience

The salary range for this position is $76,160k to $89.600k per annum, skill set and experience dependant. (Band F)
