Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise drainage installation crews on a variety of civil construction projects, ensuring work is carried out efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
- Coordinate site activities such as excavation, pipelaying, and backfilling in compliance with relevant specifications, council standards, and best practices.
- Interpret site plans, drawings, and instructions to manage workflow and project milestones effectively.
- Facilitate toolbox meetings, implement safety procedures, and promote a proactive, positive safety culture amongst team members.
- Monitor project progress, quantities used, and site records, highlighting any issues or variations to supervisors or project managers promptly.
- Mentor, support, and train less experienced team members to foster individual growth and team capability.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, engineers, suppliers, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery and resolve any challenges rapidly.
Experience, and Qualities
- Proven experience in civil drainage, pipelaying, or three waters infrastructure, ideally with previous team leading or foreman experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and set out works in accordance with project requirements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the confidence to direct, motivate, and support diverse crews.
- Sound knowledge and commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance in a construction environment.
- Physically fit, with a willingness to work outdoors and adapt to changing site conditions.
- Valid New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1 required; Class 2 and WTR endorsements an advantage).
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand is essential.
