Bay Trolleys Limited is looking for a reliable and experienced Grocery Manager to lead our operations in Tauranga. As Grocery Manager, you’ll play a key role in overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring our standards of efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organise, and supervise all grocery department activities to maximise sales and profitability.
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked, displays are attractive, and products are rotated according to FIFO (first in, first out).
- Monitor inventory levels, manage stock ordering, and reduce wastage.
- Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and promotional displays.
- Running department promotions as and when required.
- Adding new products in the department to meet the customer’s needs and demands.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling standards.
- Recruit, train, and supervise grocery staff.
- Prepare staff rosters and allocate daily tasks effectively.
- Motivate the team to achieve sales and service targets.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching for improvement.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service within the department.
- Handle escalated customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests professionally.
- Support a positive shopping experience for all customers.
- Work with store management to set and achieve sales, margin, and shrinkage targets.
- Monitor department expenses and contribute to overall store profitability.
- Analyse sales data and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
- Oversee stocktakes and prepare inventory reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and labour laws.
- Implement and monitor promotional and seasonal campaigns in coordination with head office.
Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $30 to $35 per hour.
Other requirements for the role:
- 2 years of relevant Work Experience is essential.
- Relevant tertiary qualification is preferable but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of SAP system will be a bonus
- Have good communication and people skills
- Be available to work on weekends and evening shifts.
