About the role
The Group Operations Lead plays a critical leadership role responsible for the efficient, safe, and productive operational activities. Providing a pivotal point of contact on shift and for the cargo handler group for leading and managing terminal operations and employee engagement. The roles focus on yard, vessel and landside operations, ensuring a capable, engaged, and cohesive team which consistently achieves targets. The role ensures that all people related matters are appropriately supported or managed.
About you
You're a people leader who ensure continuity of operations through clear, consistent, and effective communication. You focus drive performance through continuous improvement, achieving exceptional productivity, efficiency and engagement. You're at your best when working alongside your teams and operational partners to identify opportunities, resolve challenges, and implement practical solutions that deliver measurable results.
The ideal candidate will also possess some of the following:
- Proven senior and contemporary leadership track record in a role within logistics, terminal operations, or a related industry.
- Proven experience in operational and analytical roles, with a strong focus on operations delivery, employee engagement, continuous improvement and project management, and change management.
- Proven experience leading in a highly unionised business.
- Strong People and Safety leadership experience.
- Strong financial acumen
- The ability to use sound commercial analysis to generate, evaluate and act on strategic options and opportunities.
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field is desirable
