The Outpatient service covers a variety of medical and surgical specialties including: general surgery; ear, nose and throat; orthopaedic; ophthalmology (eyes); urology; medical, and more. We practice in a collaborative patient partnership model of care to achieve the best outcomes for our patients/families and whānau.
As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, patient monitoring and other tasks as directed.
Every day is different and our nursing team enjoys the variety of work, the people they interact with, and the challenge of giving each patient the best customer experience, whilst ensuring that everything runs to schedule.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly person to join our team, working rostered and rotating shifts - mainly 8am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday; occasional shifts in the evening and weekend may be required.

About You
You will have the personality and skills to get on with a wide variety of people, have great communication skills and love helping people. You will have the ability to work in a flexible manner, demonstrating honesty and reliability. Good IT and organisational skills are preferred..
Experience within the health sector is preferred but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Qualifications
Essential
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
- NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
Desirable
- Home Carer Certificate (or equivalent)
Mandatory requirement
- NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be commenced once orientations have been attended.
