Are you a seasoned corporate communications leader looking to take on a new and pivotal role. The of Head of Business Communications is a new role that brings the opportunity to shape how we communicate our strategy, performance, and financial story to key audiences—including farmer shareholders, employees, and other stakeholders.

If you’re a strategic thinker with strong financial literacy, experience in listed environments, and a strength in simplifying complex ideas, we want to hear from you.

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Communications, you’ll lead the development and execution of Fonterra’s strategy and financial communications. You’ll be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, including the CFO, and play a key role in our annual financial reporting cycle and strategic project communications.

You’ll also lead and mentor a small team, helping build a high-performing, collaborative communications function that is resetting its global operating model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a forward-looking corporate strategy communications plan aligned to business priorities.
  • Partner with the CFO and senior leaders to deliver clear, effective financial and performance communications.
  • Lead communications for strategic initiatives including M&A, investments and partnerships, innovation, and transformation.
  • Champion and embed a corporate communications business partnership model across the Co-op.
  • Mentor and develop two direct reports, fostering growth and excellence.
  • Foster close ways of working with offshore communications colleagues to ensure alignment to shared corporate narrative and plan.
  • Ensure consistent, cohesive strategy messaging across channels and audiences
  • Track and report on communications KPIs and adjust plans as needed

You’re a confident communicator with a sharp strategic mind and a deep understanding of financial narratives. You know how to translate complex models and performance data into clear, compelling stories that resonate.

You’ll also have:

  • 10+ years’ experience in corporate communications, ideally in a listed company
  • Strong financial literacy and experience in financial or shareholder communications
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of mentoring and developing teams
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive, solutions-focused attitude
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and managing confidential, high-stakes communications
