Are you looking for a role where you can grow, learn, and make a real difference? We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a smart, humble, and motivated communications advisor to join our team and help improve outcomes for injured New Zealanders.
You’ll be part of a strategic communications and marketing team that values collaboration, curiosity, and continuous learning. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in communications - perhaps 2–3 years of experience - who’s ready to take the next step and develop their skills further.
As a Communications and Engagement Advisor, you’ll support the delivery of communications and engagement plans and initiatives that enhance the experience of ACC customers. You’ll work across teams and channels, contributing to meaningful work that builds trust and strengthens organisational performance.
This is a generalist role offering exposure to a wide range of communications and marketing activities. You’ll be supported to grow your capability and confidence, with opportunities to stretch into new areas over time.
Key accountabilities and outcomes
- Support the development and execution of communications and engagement plans.
- Identify needs and recommend practical, audience-focused solutions.
- Create compelling content for internal and external channels, including articles, social media, web, and more.
- Contribute to multi-channel campaigns and initiatives that enhance customer experience.
- Ensure all communications align with ACC’s strategy, brand, and values.
- Build and maintain effective relationships across teams and with external partners.
- Provide clear, thoughtful advice to project teams and stakeholders.
- Contribute to visual storytelling through presentations, video content, and commissioned collateral.
- Support the use of analytics and feedback to refine communications approaches.
- Manage multiple communications projects from planning to delivery.
- Work within budgets and manage supplier relationships to deliver high-quality, cost-effective communications.
- Champion Whāia te Tika and support inclusive, culturally responsive communications.

About you | Mōu
You're a communications professional with a few years of experience, ready to take the next step in your career. You’re curious, collaborative, and keen to grow your skills in a supportive environment.
You’ll bring:
- a tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, or a related field – or equivalent experience
- around 2–3 years of experience in a communications or marketing role
- strong writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail and tone
- comfort working across digital channels and learning new tools
- a team-oriented mindset, with adaptability and a willingness to learn
- good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks
- a customer-focused approach and strong collaboration skills
- understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to public service communications.

The appointing salary for this role will sit between$73,196 and $94,724 and we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution. ACC offer a comprehensive benefits package, including an advantageous superannuation scheme with features like 0% contribution required by you, optional life and income protection insurance, and the flexibility to change to a locked plan at any time, ensuring your financial security now and in retirement.
