We’re looking for a Head of Finance Business Partnering who’s part strategist, part commercial powerhouse, and part ringmaster. This is a high-impact role at the heart of our reset journey —where your commercial acumen and people savvy skills will help steer one of New Zealand’s most iconic brands back to peak performance, turning ambition into action.
The Warehouse has a proud legacy and a massive footprint—1 in 3 Kiwis visit us weekly. But retail is evolving fast, and we’re not standing still. We’ve recently shifted to a brand-led model to stay laser-focused on our customers and the markets that matter most.
Reporting to the GM – Finance and working alongside three other Business Partnering Leads, you’ll lead a team of four and own the finance partnership for The Warehouse (TWL) brand. Your portfolio spans Merchandise, Operations, Property, Marketing, and Omni—so you’ll be right in the thick of where the magic (and complexity) happens.
You’ll be the go-to commercial advisor for senior leaders, helping them make sharp, strategic decisions grounded in robust analysis, modelling, and insight. You’ll bring structure to ambiguity, align moving parts, and influence outcomes—often without formal authority. Think: strategic diplomacy meets financial rigour.
You’ll also lead budgeting, forecasting, capital investment, and monthly reporting for your portfolio.
And as a people leader, you’ll set high standards, create clarity, and build a team that’s confident, capable, and ready to deliver.
You’re commercially sharp, analytically strong, and great with people—even the tricky ones. You know how to challenge respectfully, influence without ego, and keep things moving when others stall. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves, but you never lose sight of the big picture.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner or Commercial Advisor in a large or complex organisation (retail a bonus)
- CA, CIMA or CPA qualification
- Strong data and analytics skills (Power BI experience ideal)
- A track record of leading high-performing teams
- A pragmatic, systems-thinking mindset
- The ability to cut through complexity and drive action
This is a unique role to help shape the future of a beloved Kiwi brand. We’re in reset mode, and this role is central to assisting TWL regain its edge—by identifying opportunities, weeding out inefficiencies, and driving smarter performance.
We offer:
- Discounts across all our brands
- Birthday leave
- Free parking at our North Shore support office
- Hybrid working – up to 2 days WFH
- Onsite gym and café
- A range of wellbeing and development support
If you’re ready to play a key role in helping TWG regain its place in the market, influence at the highest levels, and lead a team that’s ready to make a difference—we’d love to hear from you.
