The opportunity 

• A newly created opportunity for a strategic and quality-focused Head of Testing & Environment Management to join our Technology leadership team at QBE NZPAC.  

• This role will report directly to the GM of Delivery & Technology in New Zealand, with a dotted line to the GM of Australia, offering strong cross-regional exposure and influence. 

• Lead the evolution of our testing and environment management practices — ensuring our systems, APIs, and enterprise platforms are delivered with performance, confidence, and quality.  

• From automation and AI to smarter vendor partnerships, you’ll help us raise the bar and embed a culture of continuous improvement across our delivery landscape. 

Your new role 

Develop and lead the testing strategy aligned with QBE’s transformation goals and delivery model. Key aspects of your role will be to: 

• Oversee testing across systems, APIs, and enterprise platforms. 

• Drive innovation in testing practices, leveraging automation, AI/ML, and data insights. 

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team across multiple value streams and delivery teams. 

• Manage testing environments and coordinate with global delivery partners.

• Establish and maintain enterprise testing frameworks, standards, and best practices, aligned with our global technology group. 

• Define and track quality metrics and KPIs to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes. 

• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to ensure testing adds tangible business value. 

• Continuously improve tools and processes to support agility, scalability, and speed to market.

About you 

You are a strategic and people-first leader with deep experience in testing, quality assurance, or platform development. You have: 

• A proven track record in leading enterprise-scale testing functions and managing complex delivery pipelines. 

• Strong understanding of modern testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and environment management. 

• Comfortable with managing vendor relationships and working across global delivery models. 

• Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with the ability to influence and align across business and technology teams. 

• Passionate about continuous improvement, innovation, and building high-performing, inclusive teams. 

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, change-driven environments where quality and speed go hand in hand.
