About the Role
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) will work in a teaching environment to support the Programme Coordinator and Nurse Educators by preparing venues and equipment for courses, and support staff attending courses at the Clinical Training Centre. Under the delegation of the Nurse Educators, this role will focus on supporting clinical education activities to ensure smooth operation of the training programme.
You will utilise strong organisational and prioritisation skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Training Centre, including equipment and stock ordering, setting up technical clinical equipment for scenario training, and providing administrative support for Resuscitation Team meetings and Nursing Directorate education sessions. Additionally, this role will serve as a first point of contact for staff, managing bookings, ordering supplies, and delivering accurate information aligned with the courses and training offered through the centre.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Nursing Directorate provides leadership, advice and support to the Nursing staff of Te Tai Tokerau. The Directorate supports staff across the Northern region ensuring they are offered ongoing professional development, education and courses as required.
About you
In order to succeed in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to work well under the direction and delegation of others and enjoy a variety of work. Communication and teamwork are essential to this role, previous experience in a healthcare or teaching environment would be desirable.
- Proficiency in reading, speaking and writing English

- Competent with Microsoft Offices Suite programmes, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook
- Ability to take accurate meeting minutes and develop meeting agendas
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
