A well-established and welcoming accommodation provider in Te Anau is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Hotel Service Manager to join their team. Located near the scenic Lake Te Anau, the property serves as a base for travelers exploring Fiordland National Park and the surrounding natural beauty.
Position Summary:
This permanent full-time position requires you to oversee all aspects of daily hotel operations. You will lead and support a diverse team across multiple departments, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient operations, and a high standard of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Supervise, train, and mentor staff in reception, housekeeping, and food service departments.
- Guest Services: Ensure outstanding service delivery; handle guest requests, complaints, and special needs professionally.
- Operational Oversight: Coordinate front desk processes, housekeeping schedules, and maintain consistent service standards.
- Financial Support: Assist with budgeting, payroll, and cost control for service-related expenses.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all health and safety regulations; address any issues proactively.
- Event Coordination: Plan and manage group bookings, special events, and functions.
- Reporting: Provide regular operational reports to senior management, highlighting performance, issues, and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hotel or hospitality management role.
- A diploma or degree in hospitality management, business, tourism, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- High attention to detail with a focus on service excellence.
- Proficiency in hotel management systems and basic financial reporting.
- Sound knowledge of hospitality industry health and safety standards.
