The Opportunity
We're looking for a Junior Embedded Software Engineer to join our collaborative Devices squad within Gallagher’s Security Solution Delivery group. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with embedded systems and hardware teams to develop software for real-world security solutions.
As part of an agile squad, you’ll:
- Develop and maintain embedded software using C++
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up and system integration
- Contribute to debugging, testing, and ongoing software improvement
- Learn and apply internal software development processes and quality practices
- Grow your technical capability through mentoring, hands-on experience, and continuous learning
This is an ideal role for someone with a relevant qualification and foundational knowledge in embedded systems, ready to contribute and learn in a supportive team environment.
The Fit
You’re curious, detail-oriented, and eager to build high-quality software in a collaborative engineering setting. You bring a growth mindset and a willingness to keep developing your skills.
- What You’ll Bring
- A tertiary qualification in Software, Electronics, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with embedded C++
- Understanding of microcontroller architecture and digital electronics
- Some exposure to version control tools and build systems (e.g. Git, Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions)
- An interest in modern development practices such as debugging tools, automated testing, or scripting languages like Python or Ruby
