About this role

We are on the hunt for a passionate individual to join us in the role of Kaiāwhina on a permanent part time (15 hours per week) basis based in Kaitaia.

As the Kaiāwhina you will assist Kaiako in the delivery our Te Reo Māori programme in a proactive, supportive whānau based environment. This role also assists the Kaiako in preparing resources and classrooms and virtual online learning, monitoring student attendance, general administration task and student recruitment.

About you


You will bring with you:


  • A School Leavers Certificate.
  • It is preferred that Kaiāwhina are qualified one level above the subject being taught; or should be studying towards relevant subject.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Tikanga and Āhuatanga Māori.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
