We have an exciting opportunity to join us as Senior Environmental Operator in a role that can create career pathways into Environmental Advisor and Environmental Management, and for someone who enjoys the outdoors and thrives in working and managing your own time autonomously.
This is a varied and busy role where you will assist with the management of our wastewater treatment plant, and other compliance related tasks, to maintain our licence to operate. This will include a range of hands-on tasks including data entry, daily monitoring and basic reporting, sample collection, and essential maintenance to ensure the system is operational and meeting resource management obligations and consents.
Day to day your core responsibilities will include:
- Wastewater treatment plant management, maintenance and reporting processes.
- Compliance surveying, sampling, laboratory testing and monitoring.
- Ensuring that wastage is minimised, e.g. water, energy, and chemicals
- Ensuring that you fully understand and comply with the site Environmental Policy and relevant resource consent requirements related to treated wastewater discharges.
- Liaising with the site Maintenance team, other relevant staff, and contractors to ensure disposal operations are carried out with minimal disruption to factory processing operations and ensure disposal system reliability.
- Implementing, maintaining and actively promote a safe work environment.

4 on 4 off 12 hours day shift with some on call responsibilities
Mōu | About You
Playing a pivotal role in our Environmental Team, you’ll be an engaged and proactive team player who is well organised and won’t be afraid to step up and get your hands dirty when things get busy.
We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest and curiosity about wastewater treatment and the Environment and is passionate about environmental processes and practices. You will have a ‘can do attitude’ and are motivated to advance your experience in the environmental space. You’ll need to be physically fit as you will be on your feet most of the day and a mechanical aptitude to check machinery is key.
In addition you’ll also have:
- A good understanding of the environment
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
- Are tech savvy in MS Suite and data entry, previous experience in SAP/EQual would be beneficial
- A current New Zealand drivers’ licence.
- Reliable, strong work ethic
- Sound health and safety practices
