Te Papa is more than just the national museum that houses New Zealand's treasures. It is a meeting place, a place for lifelong learning, and a place that inspires a sense of wonder and connection. Te Papa is also a commercially focused crown entity, and manages Takina Events.

We're looking for a coordination superstar to join our fantastic team. We need an enthusiastic, organised and talented administrator to actively manage bookings and coordinate the Learning Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the administration of system and processes and reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • administrative coordination and support to the Learning Team
  • developing, maintaining and overseeing the booking and client management systems,
  • producing reports and tracking performance for the team,
  • coordinating production of material by relevant learning staff,
  • handling and following up on incoming enquiries in a timely manner,
  • supporting promotional work and providing excellent customer service,

  • coordinating logistics and travel bookings.

About you

You will be capable and self-motivated, an expert problem solver who is able to turn your hand to any task required. You will have a flair for setting up systems and processes and supporting the work of the wider team. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a positive, proactive approach is critical. A background in office support and coordination would be advantageous.

  • Have knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Mori and Te Reo Maori.
  • Fluency in Te Reo (written and spoken) would be advantageous.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Hours of work are eight hours a day, flexible between the hours of 8.00am and 5:30pm with the role being based in the museum. The starting salary for this position will be between $59,439 - $70,583 pa with further room for progression through the band. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees. Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand.

Te Papa will `Safety Check' as part of all recruitment screening processes to positions deemed core and non-core `Children's Worker' positions to meet the requirements of the Children's Act 2014. The Act currently requires `Safety Checks' to be undertaken every three years. The Act also requires that employment or engagement cannot commence before safety checks and risk assessment has been completed.
