We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our team as a permanent Library & Council Services Assistant in the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board.
This is a 40-hour role with regular weekend hours.
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
You will be based at Manukau Library – Te Paerangi and have the flexibility and opportunity to work across the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board libraries.
Main duties of the role include:
- Providing exceptional customer service across a busy, multicultural library and council service hub.
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the library, including frontline service delivery.
- Engaging with the local community through programmes such as children’s activities and learning events.
- Collaborating with a dynamic team to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Assisting a diverse range of customers, ensuring positive and helpful interactions.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills
- Evidence of working with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds
- Experience working with technology and able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices that are available at the library
- Experience working with children and young people
- Willingness to work with the library team in the delivery of programmes and events
- Flexible and collaborative approach to your work
- Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

The salary band for this role is Band D, we expect to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of from $57,000 – $65,000 depending on skillset and experience.
