Position Title: Machine Operator
Salary Range: $25.00–$30.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Minimum Guaranteed Hours of Work: 30–40 hours per week

Sanger Smart is an innovative agricultural business dedicated to delivering sustainable and efficient farming operations. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Operator to operate, maintain, and service a variety of agricultural machinery, ensuring our operations are carried out safely, effectively, and to a high standard.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- A minimum of two years’ experience operating agricultural or heavy machinery; or
- A relevant Level 3 qualification or higher (e.g., NZQF Certificate in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Mechanical Engineering).
- Proven ability to operate tractors, harvesters, sprayers, seeders, and other agricultural machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety practices in an agricultural environment.
- Physical fitness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate agricultural machinery for planting, cultivation, spraying, harvesting, and other farm operations.
- Conduct daily pre-start checks, servicing, and minor repairs on machinery.
- Identify and report mechanical faults promptly to minimise downtime.
- Follow operational plans to ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
- Maintain accurate logs of work completed, machinery usage, and maintenance activities.
- Operate machinery safely and in compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Assist with general farm duties when required.
