The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Manager or Senior Manager to join our Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) team in Auckland. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in identifying client opportunities where your expertise can make a significant impact. You’ll build and nurture valuable relationships across the industry, gain extensive experience, and develop strong capabilities through both formal training and mentorship from senior leaders and talented colleagues.

Our high-performing team of risk management professionals, quantitative analysts, technologists, and former regulators collaborates closely with New Zealand’s leading financial institutions to provide strategic advice and execution support.
Your key responsibilities
You can expect a diverse range of responsibilities that allow you to make a meaningful difference. On any given day, your duties may include:
- Leading Engagements: Overseeing end-to-end components of engagements, ensuring deliverables are produced on time and meet quality standards, while managing client relationships and supervising junior team members.
- Client Collaboration: Working directly with clients to gain a deep understanding of their business models, financial structures, and specific risk exposures.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluating both financial and non-financial risks for clients, including credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and various operational risks.
- Regulatory Advisory: Providing clients with comprehensive advice on a range of risks, particularly regarding the requirements of regulators.
- Framework Design: Assisting clients in developing or enhancing their risk management frameworks to effectively address their most critical risks.
- Due Diligence Assessments: Supporting clients involved in mergers, acquisitions, or other business transactions by assessing the associated risks.
- Technology Solutions Development: Collaborating with our Technology Consulting team to design innovative risk technology solutions that facilitate efficient risk management and provide new insights.
- Training and Education: Conducting training sessions, workshops, and seminars to educate clients on risk management best practices and emerging trends.
- Thought Leadership Contribution: Helping EY develop a market-facing perspective on risk management that sets us apart from competitors.
Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience in a financial services consulting firm or major financial institution, focusing on one or more of the following areas:
- Risk culture, conduct, and compliance
- Regulatory and risk reporting
- Financial crime
- Financial risk (credit, market, funding, and/or liquidity risk)
- Operational risk (general or in technical areas such as AI, data, technology, and records risk)
- Regulation and prudential supervision (including experience working with a regulator and/or EDR scheme)
- Risk technology
- Risk analytics
- A high level of drive, initiative, and leadership.
- A degree in finance, commerce, law, STEM, or a related field, with post-graduate qualifications or additional study viewed favourably.
- CAMS certified.

We have 1 position available. The salary range for this role is expected to be NZD 110,000 to NZD 180,000 dependent on skills and experience. This full-time role is for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
