Manager, Software Development

Advantive
Howick, Auckland
Full time

At Advantive, we don’t just make software—we build careers and power the manufacturing and distribution backbone of the global economy. We are growing fast, investing in AI, and building a culture where motivated, curious people rise quickly.

We're looking for a Software Development Manager who’s ready to lead a team, building and maintaining our market-leading suite of purpose-built software for specialty manufacturers and distributors.

You’re a self-starter with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a track record of delivering results. You know how to achieve ambitious goals in fast-paced, innovative environments—and you lead with both focus and flexibility.

You care deeply about the craft of software development. Clean code, quality architecture, and continuous improvement aren’t just checkboxes for you—they’re part of how you work. You're not only technical, but also a team builder who creates a positive, collaborative environment where people can do their best work.

We value people who get things done—and enjoy doing it with others. If you thrive on building great software and strong teams, we’d love to meet you.

Competencies:

  • Attention to detail: Involves a meticulous approach to work, prioritizing accuracy and thoroughness to ensure high-quality outcomes
  • Extreme ownership: Encapsulates taking full responsibility for one’s actions and their outcomes, emphasizing accountability and learning from experiences
  • Development strategy: Develops strategies to advance software solutions and meet market demands.
  • QA methodology: Implements QA methodologies to ensure product and service quality.
  • Agile methodology/Scrum: Implements Agile and Scrum methodologies to enhance project adaptability and response.
  • Disciplined Execution: Detail-oriented and organized, this leader prioritizes effectively, excels at time management, and anticipates well in decision making

Why Advantive?

  • Culture of Growth: We don’t hire to fill seats—we hire to develop talent. You’ll be supported like an athlete, coached like a leader, and challenged like a builder.
  • Career Acceleration: Many of our best leaders started in frontline roles like this one. We believe in moving fast and promoting from within.
  • Real Impact: You’re not a cog in the machine here. Your work helps real businesses that keep supply chains, manufacturing lines, and entire industries running.

To that extent, if selected for next steps, you will be invited to complete a series of assessments that focus on aptitude and personality prior to a recruiter interview. Everyone at the company from early career all the way to CEO has taken these assessments. The assessment email will be coming from a no-reply email address via our ATS (Hirebridge), so please be on the lookout!
