Are you a well-trained and disciplined Welder and metal worker looking for a unique opportunity to shape your own workspace? We’re seeking a skilled and solutions-focused Metal Worker to join our growing team.
Please note that we will be moving our manufacturing operations from Whanganui to our head office and main warehouse in Hastings, we ideally will require the successful candidate to work the majority of the first 2 months from our Whanganui workshop. (We will help with Travel and Accommodation)
About the job
This is more than just a job — it’s your chance to help set up a brand-new workshop in our new Hastings warehouse and work closely with our in-house CAD team to bring innovative shelving systems to life.
Day-to-day activities involve the following:
- Sheetmetal fabrication using punches, guillotines, press brakes
- Welding and general assembly of shelving systems
- Working independently to plan your day and meet production goals
- Collaborating with team members on installations and dispatch
- Maintain a tidy and clean place of work, and be Health and Safety conscious
What we’re looking for
We are looking for an engaged and motivated team member, who ideally has some trades knowledge, is physically fit (manual handling of heavy items is required).
Important to this role:
- Proven experience in welding, sheet metal work and fabrication
- Skilled in using punches, guillotines, press brakes, and welding equipment
- A solutions-oriented mindset – able to troubleshoot and improve processes
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with CAD designers
- Willingness to be based in Whanganui during the work week for 2–3 months for training before relocating to Hastings
- Work well independently and have strong problem solving, time management and organisation skills
- Positive ‘can do’ attitude and ‘make it happen’ approach
- Available to work Monday to Friday (7am – 5pm)
